Bill Gates has formed a charity with his wife Melinda Gates to spread the tries to help poor students of different communities. The organization provides allowance for students who are coming from very low income families. They have named the scholarships as Bill Gates Scholarships. The students from different ethnic groups like Native Americans, African Americans, Hispanics and Asian and Pacific Islanders are privileged under this scholarship. There are various scholarships based on the need of each option.

Other than giving scholarships to deprived students, the agenda of the institution includes giving big contribution to black colleges and those offices who provides scholarships to minority students.

Gates Millennium Scholars Program is the main attraction for students. It is given to students who are excellent in their studious subject but are from low income families. The foundation does not insist a lot of form filling process to provide these scholarships.

There is no hard and fast rules on the eligibility criteria for the student. A grade of 3.3 or a GED or even a graduate degree can make you eligible for the scholarship. This is how the program varies from other scholarship programs.

The Nationality also will not be a barrier for availing scholarships from the charity. If you are a permanent resident of US, you are qualified for the scholarship. The main vision of the establishment is to make students from different ethnic groups to enter into the science and technology field.

The student scholarship is not aimed to completely relieve the students and their families from paying training price. The aim of providing scholarship is to support the families to reduce the burden of paying guidance fees of their students. The organization provides an average of $15000/ year to a graduate student. An undergraduate student will get an average of $7000/year only.

In addition to the scholarship received from gates charity, if the students can get an on campus job, it will be helpful for them to complete the classes without the help of any financial aid. The same can be obtained by applying for some other scholarship. If that is possible, the students need not worry about the repayment of loans after their studies
