It is undisputed that even though the rank of translation as a subject should not be questioned, the great accumulation of arguments on translation pose a necessity to investigate this subject. As a result it comes as no surprise that series of encyclopedias on translation are published simultaneously all of them trying to trace the latest developments of this discipline. German Translator consultants in the 1920s begin to be aware of the appearance of new titles in a market scarce in literature before this time, and their duty is to recommend those titles that the reader will find interesting. As a result, Houston Translation Services professors who teach translation classes recommend founding encyclopedias for their students.

Up to the last two decades of the previous century Daniel Cardin’s collection of papers, accompanied by that of Samuel Butler, are definitely the only two important collections of papers on translation in English. Elsewhere, Traduction Anthologie written by Washington D.C. French Translation authority and linguist Andre Lefevere, has made a significant contribution on translation studies throughout the world. These days we can claim that all these collections have been instrumental in acknowledging translation as a separate branch of learning.
